Onboarding New Computers Faster

The techs at Tech Partners Hawaii, like most MSPs, spend a great deal of time onboarding new computers and shipping them out to clients. When every second counts, though, automation tools like ImmyBot help turn manual tedium into efficient onboarding practices that get new computers configured and in customer hands fast. Just ask President and CEO Jason Stone.

“If it [ImmyBot] saved 30 minutes per computer deployment, it’s worthwhile… Now we have our deployments down to one hour.”

What Industries Does Tech Partners Hawaii Work With?

Hailing from the Hawaiian Islands, Tech Partners Hawaii works with a clients in construction, the nonprofit sector, and (naturally) the hospitality industry.

“They’re always on. These are organizations that run higher guest numbers when everyone else is on vacation. We’re usually on call all the time.”

The Old Way of Onboarding

Tech Partners Hawaii has used ImmyBot to onboard and maintain computers since 2020, but the tedium of their old way of onboarding new machines is hardly a distant memory for Jason Stone.

“We would do what’s called a gold image. So we would prep a computer for a client, image that system, pre-stage it, and then roll it back out to a bunch more computers. Super time intensive. Anytime there’s a changeto that gold image, we’re rebuilding it from scratch.”

ImmyBot as Guard Rails

Though not Tech Partners Hawaii’s initial reason using ImmyBot, they have started taking advantage of the concept of ImmyBot as guard rails to make sure that computers remain in a desired state.

“We have a baseline. People add stuff. They remove stuff. Things start to drift away from those guard rails. You can run a scheduled deployment and just pull the computers back into the required specifications.”

Takeaways

By using ImmyBot, Tech Partners Hawaii have:

  • Cut onboarding time for each computer from three hours down to one hour.

  • Maintained those computers over their lifespan with “guard rail” deployments to keep things to spec.

  • Removed needless tedium from their day-to-day operations.

  • Delivered new computers to their clients more efficiently.
