Enabling Growth at a Small MSP

Small MSPs are frought with challenges ranging from new staff training, numerous incoming hardware requests, and sometimes just office space or a lack thereof. All of this is the day-to-day reality of Redbird Security LLC Service Manager Ryan Shelvik.

“For every deployment, you now have to install this application, fix that setting because you forgot…Like all of the stuff that I had to do was just annoying every single time you set up a computer, every deployment, you’d have to do all those things,” he said.

And yet, small MSPs have a tremendous amount of potential for figuring out more efficient ways to deliver consistantly for their clients. For Ryan, a big part of building that efficiency starts with ImmyBot.

A Boost to Efficiency

How can you take on more work when sheer bench space monitors put a limit on the amount of computers you can onboard?

Ryan’s team found a way forward by setting up four computers at a time on their stations. His team will “hit them with the ImmyBot stick” to start their onboarding, and then move them into a corner while they get going with four additional computers.

โ€œBeing able to do that let me go from four in the lab to…sixteen is pushing it, but like I can usually do eight to twelve.โ€

New Technician Training

Taking on new technicians means inevitable time spent on training. And when you’re already backed up witha massive workload, finding that time is far from easy.

By utilizing ImmyBot, Ryan can have the greenest techs on his team jump right into a productive workflow. They get some training and the workload is reduced, a win-win.

โ€œI can grab this guy right off the street and be like ‘hey, come here. Read that. Click that button. Follow the list. Keep going,” Ryan said.

Efficiency Equals Growth

As a growth-focused MSP taking on more work with a small (but mighty) staff, Ryan knows that growth doesn’t just benefit from efficiency, it requires it.

โ€œThe deployment of ImmyBot into the way that we do things, specifically with setting up computers, has taken a significant amount of what has become unnecessary labor and just cut it out of the work day,” Ryan said.
