ImmyBot August Community Call Recap: RBAC, New Website, Automation Highlights & More

The August ImmyBot Community Call was packed with updates, demos, and big news for our users. From a sleek new website to deep dives into automation workflows and a major RBAC (Role-Based Access Control) update, here’s everything you need to know.

1. A Fresh New Look for ImmyBot

Anna Lang kicked things off by unveiling the redesigned ImmyBot website.
The refresh is more than just aesthetics — it’s now a functional resource hub:

  • Script Library: Browse all available scripts directly from your phone or desktop.

  • Integrations: Up-to-date platform integration info.

  • Resources Section: Future home for community call recordings, team-written articles, podcasts, and testimonials.

  • AI + Human Collaboration: The new illustrations were crafted using AI-generated imagery, carefully refined by an illustrator for a polished finish.

2. Automation Highlight – Windows 11 Readiness

Anthony Birone shared how his MSP is tackling the Windows 11 upgrade push ahead of Microsoft’s October deadline:

  • Leveraging ImmyBot’s Windows 11 Hardware Readiness task.

  • Integrating with Halo PSA via webhook to flag devices as compatible or incompatible.

  • Surfacing results in the self-service portal, complete with warranty info, and providing one-click “Request a Quote” functionality.

  • The workflow is adaptable for other PSAs like ConnectWise.

3. RBAC Update – Greater Control, Granular Permissions

The most anticipated segment came from developer Colin Blaise, who walked through the upcoming RBAC overhaul:

  • Phased Rollout: Stage 1 completed — existing permissions now mapped into the new RBAC backend for stability.

  • New UI: Clear role and permission mapping with built-in role parity.

  • Scoped Role Assignments: Assign access by owner, MSP, tag, specific tenant, or user’s own tenant.

  • Resource Scoping: Control access at the computer level — by device, tag, or type (e.g., workstations vs. domain controllers).

  • Custom Roles: Define your own permission sets for precise access control.

  • Timeline: No hard date yet, as the team is still testing to ensure all requirements are met before release.

4. Revamped Documentation

Mark Gomez introduced the overhauled documentation site:

  • Clear Navigation: Sections for getting started, integrations, administration, and how-to guides.

  • Always Evolving: Processes to keep docs updated regularly.

  • Integration with the Product: Future in-app links will direct users to relevant documentation.

  • Training Videos Coming Soon: Expected by late Q3/early Q4, covering onboarding and core ImmyBot setup.

5. Upcoming Events

The ImmyBot team is hitting the road:

  • August: Houston & Dallas for Channel Program dinners.

  • Late August: Australia for IT Nation Connect & APAC peer groups.

  • September 3: Next Community Call.

  • September 7–9: Canada for Canon Con.

6. Office Hours – Real-Time Problem Solving

As always, the call wrapped up with open office hours. A lively troubleshooting session included:

  • Deep technical dive into building a SentinelOne dynamic integration.

  • Tips for authenticated downloads and handling complex installer behaviors.

  • Real-world workflow problem-solving among community members.

The August call showcased ImmyBot’s ongoing evolution:

  • A user-friendlier experience through a modernized website and documentation.
